After a tumultuous year dotted with controversies, US singer Lana Del Rey is reportedly engaged to a man she met on a dating app in August.

Lana Del Rey appears to be rounding out a controversial year with some exciting news.

While she’s yet to confirm the news to her followers, the singer has been spotted on several occasions sporting an engagement ring, believed to have been given to her by a man she met on a dating app around August.

The Grammy nominee — who tends to keep her love life under wraps — has been dating singer Clayton Johnson, 31, with a source confirming to PEOPLE they’re set to tie the knot.

Speculation started to mount on Monday when the singer performed her new track Love You Like A Woman on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon , and eagle-eyed fans spotted a big honking ring on her finger.

A flurry of exclamatory Tweets followed: “Lana is engaged omg” and “Y’all see that?” next to a close-up photo of the ring.

This wasn’t the first time the rock sparked rumours, however. On November 18, another fan tweeted a photo of Lana wearing the bling, and someone else spotted the rock way back on Halloween, where the duo wore matching The Wizard of Oz costumes.

It seems to be a whirlwind romance for the singer, who confirmed she’d split from her policeman boyfriend Sean Larkin back March. Larkin, 46, also revealed that the two were “just friends” in a New York Times profile around the same time.

Johnson and Del Rey started following each other on Instagram in August, and since then, fans have spotted her appearing on his social media.

The two seem to have a lot in common given Johnson is also a musician.

Del Rey’s new beau was a vocalist and guitarist of trio The Johnsons, alongside his brothers Chantry and Connor. The trio — originally from Modesto, California — last released Call Whenever in June 2017 on SoundCloud.

Like many celebs this year, Del Rey has courted controversy with her social media presence and questionable antics amid the pandemic, including wearing a mesh face mask to greet fans at a recent event.

In June, the singer also faced backlash over a video showing looters in the riots following George Floyd’s death.

Twitter users accused Del Rey, 34, of sharing a minute-long video of looters to her 16.5 million followers on Instagram, exposing their faces in the up-close-and-personal footage.

But the Del Rey uproar of 2020 originally kicked off in May, when the star took to Instagram to address criticism that her music was “glamorizing abuse”.

In the message, Del Rey called out a plethora of other artists for making “songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, f***ing, cheating, etc.”

Most of the women listed by Del Rey are black, causing followers to accuse her of racial bias in her response.
