Kyle Sandilands finally reveals why he broke up with Imogen Anthony

In a rare, candid new interview, Kyle Sandilands has finally provided insight into his split from long-term girlfriend Imogen Anthony.

Kyle Sandilands has opened up about his headline-grabbing split from ex-girlfriend Imogen Anthony, who he was with for eight years before they called it quits in 2019.

Speaking candidly on Mamamia’s No Filter podcast, the controversial KIIS FM radio host told Mia Freedman the 19-year age gap was a contributing factor to their break-up.

He said Anthony “went from a young girl into a woman” towards the end of their relationship, having first met Anthony when she was just 21.

“It’s not as if we couldn’t get on. It’s just I was going into my twilight years and she was just becoming a woman,” he explained.

“It was just one of those things that it was fun while it lasted and it was great, we enjoyed a lot of things about each other, but some of these things they come to an end sometimes,” he added.

The shock jock — who earns between $7-8 million per year — went on to discuss his view that it’s “important” to make sure his former partners are taken care of financially.

“I want to make sure they’re okay mentally, physically, financially, and they deserve it, too,” he explained.

“Ex-wives, my other ex-partners, they’re able to be, and they should be, looked after and treated with respect.”

Sandilands is currently dating his former personal assistant, 35-year-old Tegan Kynaston.

Their romance was confirmed shortly after his split from Anthony was made public, after weeks of swirling rumours and a very public spat that ended with police involvement.

Kynaston is often seen gushing over Sandilands on Instagram.

The radio star was previously married to singer Tamara Jaber, from pop group Scandal’us, calling it quits two years after their wedding in 2010.

He met aspiring model Anthony in 2011 at his 40th birthday bash.

The pair had publicly discussed plans to marry and possibly even have children one day, until they split in November 2019.

Speaking out last year, Anthony claimed she was “led astray for months” by Sandilands amid their break-up.

The 30-year-old said she was asked to stay silent about the circumstances of their rift, and told her Instagram followers she was “confusingly” sent gifts by her ex even after they’d decided to move on.

Meanwhile, Sandilands had broken down on air over the break-up, telling listeners the couple had not lived together for “quite some time”.

“That’s just the way it is. No problems there, but … you know how it is,” he said, adding that he wouldn’t go into detail about the reasons for the split.
