Kristen Stewart on Robert Pattinson: ‘We were young and stupid’

Kristen Stewart has opened up about her long-term relationship with Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson, admitting they were “young and stupid”.

Actress Kristen Stewart attributes her four-year relationship with British actor Robert Pattinson to being “young and stupid.”

The US actress, who recently announced she is engaged to screenwriter Dylan Meyer, opened up about her long-term relationship with her former Twilight co-star in a new interview with The New Yorker.

“It was so clear who worked,” Stewart, 31, said, reflecting on her instant chemistry with Pattinson, 35, when he auditioned to play Edward Cullen to her Bella Swan. “I was literally just, like [swooning].”

Their on-screen romance spilled over into real life.

Noting the qualities that made her fall for him, the Spencer star said the British actor had an “intellectual approach that was combined with, ‘I don’t give a f**k about this, but I’m going to make this sing.’ And I was, like, ‘Ugh, same.’”

She added, “And, whatever, we were young and stupid and, not to say that we made it so much better, but that’s what it needed, and that’s what anybody playing those parts needed to feel.”

She went on to date visual effects producer Alicia Cargile and model Stella Maxwell before finding love with Meyer. She and the Moxie screenwriter, 33, dated for two years before getting engaged.

“We’re marrying, we’re totally gonna do it,” Stewart shared on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show earlier this month. “I wanted to be proposed to, so I think I very distinctly carved out what I wanted, and she nailed it. We’re marrying, it’s happening.”

Stewart had previously told Stern, 67, that she couldn’t wait to marry Meyer after just three months of dating her.

“I want to be, like, sort of somewhat reasonable about it, but I think good things happen fast,” she said in 2019. “I have a couple plans that are just the coolest things to do. I’m really impulsive. I don’t know when it’s going to be.”

Meanwhile, Pattinson has been dating model Suki Waterhouse since 2018.
