Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx pictured holding hands in rare public outing

Notoriously private couple Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx have been pictured holding hands in a rare public display of affection.

They may have been dating for six years, but Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx rarely take their romance public.

The A-list couple, who were spotted together for the first time dancing in the Hamptons back in 2013, were seen holding hands after dinner and a movie in Los Angeles this week with Foxx’s daughter, Corinne, 25.

Foxx, 51, and Holmes, 40, were rumoured to have split in February, with Us Weekly reporting the Robin Hood actor said he was single during an Oscars party in Beverly Hills.

But it appears they’re still going strong, cutting casual figures on their midweek date night, with Foxx dressed in sneakers and track pants, while Holmes was wearing a trench coat, jeans and flats.

The happy couple were also seen getting an ice cream, and at one point Foxx and his daughter shared an affectionate hug.

“They keep it private and protect it for the most part because they don’t want to disrupt either of their families,” a source told Us Weekly.

“Jamie rarely has her over his house and they mostly hang out separately from their kids.”

The pair have never confirmed their relationship publicly.

Holmes was previously married to Hollywood’s biggest star Tom Cruise, with whom they share a 12-year-old daughter, Suri.

In one of the most famous TV moments of all time, Cruise enthusiastically leapt onto the couch on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 2005, gushing about Holmes, whom he had just started dating.

“You’re gone,” Oprah said to him about his extreme infatuation with his new girlfriend.

The pair, who were one of tinsel town’s super couples known as “TomKat”, had a highly publicised split in 2012.

There were reports Holmes feared intimidation from the Church of Scientology, which Cruise is notoriously heavily involved with.

Foxx is also the father of 10-year-old Annalise, who he shares with his ex partner, Kristin Grannis.
