Karl’s ex Cassandra Thorburn flies out of Sydney solo

Cassandra Thorburn cut a solitary figure at Sydney airport while her former husband Karl Stefanovic prepares to marry in Mexico.

As her ex-husband Karl Stefanovic landed in Mexico for his lavish second wedding, Cassandra Thorburn was spotted flying out of Sydney solo.

Thorburn arrived at Sydney airport’s domestic terminal on Thursday toting a small suitcase and Prada handbag.

Wearing a shirt emblazoned with the word ‘NEVER’, the journalist cut a solitary figure as she checked her phone and made a call while waiting to board a Virgin Australia flight.

Meanwhile, her ex Stefanovic, 44, and fiancee Jasmine Yarbrough, 34, arrived in the up-market Mexican resort town of Los Cabos on Thursday where they were greeted by a swarm of paparazzi.

The couple flew out of Sydney over the weekend and enjoyed a few days in Los Angeles where they celebrated the birthday of one of Yarbrough’s friends.

Stefanovic’s three children Jackson, River and Ava are also in Mexico for the wedding, which will be held this Saturday.

Stefanovic and Thorburn split in 2016 after 21 years in marriage, with the Today host meeting shoe designer Yarbrough in December that year.

Last year the journalist admitted she had found herself in a dark place after their split, telling Woman’s Day “it was like someone had died”.

“I realised I was going through stages of grief, and to me it was like someone had died,” she told the magazine.

Thorburn told The Australian Women’s Weekly in August that she was feeling more confident two years on from the split, but there had been in a price.

“The flip-side of that is I feel like we’re dead to his family and almost anyone from our old life,” she claimed.

“There has been practically no contact. I feel like we’ve been discarded and disposed of, replaced by a whole new line-up of starters. It has been a real adjustment period for me.”

Thorburn’s allegations were denied by Stefanovic, who told Nine’s The Fix he was “disappointed” by her comments.
