Kanye West wasn’t blowing up at Annie Leibovitz over the wedding photo
KANYE spoke his mind about Annie Leibovitz not shooting his wedding photograph. Then he decided to retract his comments. This is how it went down.
IT IS the war of words ... that has now been clarified.
Kanye West appeared to use a panel discussion at Cannes earlier this week to blow up about the fact famed photographer Annie Leibovitz didn’t shoot his wedding photo.
West, who married Kim Kardashian last month, blasted Leibovitz saying she pulled out of the job one day before the big day.
“Let me tell you something about that kiss photo that my girl put up ... this was pissing my girl off during the honeymoon, she was exhausted because we worked on the photo so much because Annie Leibovitz pulled out right before the wedding. I think that she was, like, scared of the idea of celebrity,” West said at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival.
This claim seemed generally inaccurate due to the fact Leibovitz has made her name photographing some of the biggest celebrities in the world.
And now an official statement has put us back on track, saying we all just took it out of context. It was our fault, not Kanye’s.
“Kanye West’s comments about Annie Leibovitz while speaking at the 2014 Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival have been taken out of context and sensationalised,” the statement said. “She would have loved to have taken their wedding portrait and was disappointed it didn’t happen.
“Although Kanye expressed frustration that he was not able to collaborate with Annie Leibovitz at his recent wedding, he is not assigning blame, and is not accusing Annie in any way.
“Unbeknownst to Kanye, she was never confirmed. Kanye and Annie’s representatives were in negotiations for weeks that were not completed by the time of the wedding.”
Ah, we are glad that’s all cleared up. That could have been disastrous.
