Kanye West ‘lost friends’ for dating Kim Kardashian
KANYE West says a number of his friends disowned him when he hooked up with Kim Kardashian.
KANYE West says that when he first got together with his now-wife, Kim Kardashian, some of his friends waved goodbye.
“As soon as we started dating, fashion people were really opposed to the idea of reality stars,” West, 37, told Style.com days after debuting his Adidas collaboration at New York Fashion Week.
“And all the relationships the somewhat friends that I had somewhat built up, completely turned their backs on her and me. They already had their back to her, and now they’ve turned it to me.”

In that same thought, it’s also becomes apparent that West has rooted himself in the Kardashian family tree. He views Kris Jenner as his own mother and Rob Kardashian as his younger sibling.
“The so-called traction that I was getting in the high-fashion world was completely thrown out the window [after they began dating] and I was finally allowed to go to school, where every day I was in my mum’s house, in my little brother’s old room, Rob’s old room, re-tailoring a Céline skirt, re-tailoring a Saint Laurent jacket, re-tailoring a Zara top, re-tailoring Wolford,” he continued.
“And day by day by day, [Kim and I] learned, we got better. We looked at the photographs together and she improved my style, we improved each other.”
Despite his businesses ventures, music and more, fatherhood remains a priority for West.
West also shares that his style has evolved to become dad-friendly.
“No time to look in the mirror because I’m looking at my daughter, I’m looking at my wife,” said North West’s dad. “And I’ve got to take her to dance class.”
Perhaps it is fatherhood that has influenced him most. Little North, who suffered an epic meltdown at his own fashion show last week, has been spotted sitting front row at several fashion shows since last fall’s Paris fashion week.
“With my first collections, they would say, ‘I want to see more of you’,” explained West about his evolving personal style.
“And I didn’t even know who I was. And it was far less defined who I was, and I didn’t know who I was until I had a daughter. And then I realised that the purpose of life was to protect her and my wife at all costs. And that is who I am.”
