THE Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons may be a commitment-phobe like his character Sheldon Cooper as he quashed reports he was set to marry his boyfriend of 12 years.

Rumours had been circulating that Parsons, 41, was set to marry is long-term boyfriend, art-director Todd Spiewak.

However Parsons quickly took to Instagram where he posted a photo of him and Spiewak from 2003.

“Still very happy today ... And NOT engaged! #justFYI ...” he captioned the picture.

It is clear the topic of marriage makes Parsons very uncomfortable.

In May, Ellen DeGeneres grilled him on her show about when he was going to pop the question.

“I don’t know. That’s a hard one. You get used to your life as it is,” he said.

The rumours had started after Parsons and his The Big Bang Theory co-stars Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki were able to negotiate a raise from $US325,000 per episode to about $US1 million per half-hour.

Parsons came out in May 2012 in an interview with The New York Times.

In The Big Bang Theory his character Sheldon Cooper is in a relationship with fellow scientist Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik), who constantly wants to take their relationship further only to be shut down at every point by Sheldon.
