Jennifer Hudson surprises viewers with romance revelation mid-TV interview
An A-list couple have casually outed their secret relationship during a TV interview, leaving the live studio audience stunned.
Jennifer Hudson has low-key unveiled her A-list romance during a TV interview.
The Oscar winning actress, 42, welcomed rapper Common, 51, to her talk show The Jennifer Hudson Show this week, with the pair casually exposing their relationship to the world for the first time.
After announcing Common – real name Lonnie Rashid Lynn – to the live studio audience, the actor walked onset with a bouquet of roses for Hudson, who swooned as she asked, “Are you dating anyone?”
Common, a fellow Oscar winner, began describing the special someone in his life, in which he referenced Hudson’s various career milestones, all while withholding her name.
“I’m in a relationship that is with one of the most beautiful people I’ve met in life,” Common said.
“She’s smart, she loves God, she has something real down to earth about her. She’s talented.
“I set my standard kind of high. She had to have an EGOT [recipient of an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony]. She had to win an Oscar on her first movie. She had to get her own talk show.”
At this point, the studio audience engaged in raucous cheers and applause as they realised who Common was talking about.
It comes almost two years from when the high-profile duo first sparked romance rumours in mid-2022, after paparazzi photos emerged of them together.
More recently, they were seen appearing friendly at a basketball game in Los Angeles, on January 10.
Common was most recently in a relationship with actress Tiffany Haddish, with the couple splitting in November 2021.
He has a 27-year-old daughter, Omoye Assata Lynn, who he welcomed with ex-fiancee Kim Jones in 1997.
Hudson, for her part, was engaged to WWE wrestler David Otunga in 2008, and gave birth to their son David Otunga Jr. a year later.
They split in 2017.
