Days after Monk announced the split on Instagram last month, Laundy told reporters the social media post was the first he heard of the breakup. But Monk denied the claims.

“We didn’t break up via Instagram. I’m not just gonna announce it on Instagram,” she said.

Asked to explain how she and Laundy are “very different people”, Monk said she couldn’t because “there’s children involved”.

The reality TV star told ACA that’s she’s actively seeking fertility treatment, having previously spoken of her desire to get pregnant.

“I’d love to be a mum, I think I’m going to have to freeze eggs at this point, which I’m willing to do and I’m looking into right now,” Monk told A Current Affair.

The Love Island host said she had set the ball rolling on her quest to get pregnant.

“I‘ve made a plan, it’s just the injections and all that stuff, fitting into the schedule,” she told ACA.

Asked by ACA if there “were clashes” during their whirlwind romance, an emotional Monk responded: “Absolutely”.

“You clash when you’ve got different morals,” Monk said.

Monk said she stayed with Laundy because she “wanted it to work for everyone” before eventually ending the relationship while they were on a ski trip to Canada last month.

“I gave it my best shot, I didn’t go in this half-arsed, I went in full and ready to commit,” Monk said.

Monk admitted she and Laundy “staged” paparazzi shots during their romance.

“Every day I was getting burnt for not being affectionate, so there’s paparazzi at the airport and I was like, ‘kiss me,’” Monk said.

Monk broke down during the ACA interview, tearing up: “I’m very emotional. Oh s**t, I can’t cry”.

While Laundy has said he and Monk remain “mates” after the split, Laundy previously claimed he found out that Monk had ended their relationship by reading her announcement ... on Instagram.

“I don’t know how to explain this because it’s an unusual circumstance to be in,” Monk wrote on social media last month.

“But because I entered this relationship so publicly, I know I owe an answer to Australia about my personal life.

“I went into this experience looking to settle down and start a family.

“I gave it the best shot I could and my intentions were everything I said I was looking for, but unfortunately it just didn’t work out.”

“As much as I respect him [Laundy], we are just very different people,” Monk said in her statement on Instagram.

“There were no contracts or pressure to stay together whatsoever from anyone and we remain friends.

“The positive in this whole experience is it taught me to jump out of my comfort zone in order to find real love and made me much stronger.

“I sincerely want to apologise to anyone who invested so much love and support and I hope I haven’t disappointed anyone.”

Meantime, Laundy, who is the son of millionaire Sydney publican Arthur Laundy, said he was sorry the relationship didn’t work out but that he had no regrets about going on the reality TV show.

“Soph’s and my story is our story,” Laundy, 45, said.

“I’m sorry to Australia but the reality is most of these stories will finish with the couple not together.

“I’ve got no regrets as I’ve got a friend for life ... I think Soph and I were meant to be mates like a fate thing.”

Monk’s interview on A Current Affair airs tonight, with she is set to the host Nine’s new reality dating series, Love Island.
