Halle Berry, Olivier Martinez ‘file for divorce’ after two years of marriage and one child

HALLE Berry and actor Olivier Martinez have split with the Oscar-winning actress filing divorce papers.

“It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce,” the couple said in a joint statement to People magazine. “We wish each other nothing but happiness in life and we hope that you respect our and, most importantly, our children’s privacy as we go through this difficult period.”

TMZ reports that Berry, 49, is citing irreconcilable differences but has not filed for joint or primary custody of their two-year-old son, Maceo, believing it will be a quick, non-contentious divorce.

“They have a personality difference,” a source close to the couple told TMZ.

The pair met on the set of the 2012 film, Dark Tide.

They have been married for two years and have a prenuptial agreement.

Martinez, 49, was caught on video in January hitting an airport worker with his son’s car seat, which reportedly caused issues for the celebrity couple.

Berry was first married to baseballer David Justice from 1993 to 1996 and then to musician Eric Benet from 2001 to 2005.

She has a daughter, Nahla, seven, from her relationship with model Gabriel Aubry.

Martinez dated Kylie Minogue from 2003 to 2007, helping her during her breast cancer diagnosis.

He is also rumoured to have dated other stars such as Juliette Binoche, Mira Sorvino and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

There has been no comment yet from the couple’s representatives.
