Frances Bean Cobain demands estranged husband return dad Kurt Cobain’s $1 million guitar
FRANCES Bean Cobain’s divorce has taken a nasty turn, with her ex refusing to return her late dad Kurt Cobain’s iconic $1 million guitar.
DIVORCE proceedings between Frances Bean Cobain and rocker Isaiah Silva are getting nasty.
Silva, 31, claims Cobain, 23, gave him one of her late father’s most famous guitars as a wedding present and she wants it back, according to TMZ.
The guitar in question is a Martin D-18E, complete with a replaced bridge and nut because Kurt Cobain was left-handed.
The guitar is significant because it’s the instrument he used during his iconic MTV Unplugged performance in 1993. It’s also the last guitar he used before taking his own life months later.
It’s quite valuable, too. The site adds it was once insured for $US1 million ($1.3 million) and some estimate it to be worth even more today.
Cobain’s mother, Courtney Love, claims her daughter never planned to give the guitar away.
“It’s not his. It’s a treasured heirloom of the family,” Love told TMZ about the dispute. “It’s not his to take.”
In March, Cobain filed for divorce after less than two years of marriage. She cited irreconcilable differences.
The late Nirvana rocker’s riches are reportedly valued at $US450 million ($600 million).
