Ewan McGregor’s wife speaks out: ‘It’s upsetting’
EWAN McGregor’s 22-year marriage is over — and he’s in a new relationship with his much younger co-star. Now, his wife breaks her silence.
EWAN McGregor’s wife has told of her “upset” at his filing for divorce.
The film star, 46, cited “irreconcilable differences” in ending his 22-year marriage to production designer Eve Mavrakis, 51.
He spoke six months after leaving her for actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead, 33, who played his lover on TV’s Fargo.
Eve exclusively told The Sun: “It’s disappointing and upsetting but my main concern is our four children are OK.”
Ewan seeks joint custody of the three youngest. Eve wants sole care, with visiting rights for him, and has hired a lawyer.
Eldest daughter Esther Rose, 15, blasted her dad this week in a song after our exclusive revealing his affair.
We snapped the pair kissing in London and the teenager wrote: “Seeing those pictures, they’re making me cry.”
Marakis previously spoke out after McGregor thanked both her and his new lover during his Golden Globes acceptance speech.
The star made the comment while collecting the award for his role in Fargo.
Accepting the Best Actor in a Limited Series accolade at the Golden Globes earlier this month, he said: “I want to take a moment to say thank you to Eve. Who always stood by me for 22 years. To my four children, Clara, Ester, Jamyan and Anouk, I love you.”
He then went on to say how he wouldn’t have won the role if it wasn’t for his new lover, 32-year-old Mary, who plays Nikki Swango alongside him in Fargo, adding: “There would be no Ray without Mary Elizabeth Winstead. So thank you very much.”
Marakis later told the Daily Mail: “No, I did not like his speech.”
When asked why, she explained: “For the same reasons you are here asking me about it. I am not going to say any more.”
