Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson split: Reports
IT was a tumultuous romance that shocked fans with its intensity. But now Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson have abruptly ended their engagement.
ARIANA Grande and Pete Davidson’s whirlwind romance is reportedly over.
TMZ reports that the singer, 25, and her Saturday Night Live comedian fiancee, 24, split over the weekend, four months after announcing their engagement.
TMZ states that “both parties acknowledg(ed) that it simply was not the right time for their relationship to take off,” and that the pair “still have love for each other.”
In their own report, PEOPLE “confirms” the split, quoting a ‘Grande source’ as saying: “It was way too much too soon. It’s not shocking to anyone.”
The couple started dating in May, and since then have had a tumultuous, high-profile romance, their intense displays of devotion — everything from multiple tattoos dedicated to each other to a song on Ariana’s new album Sweetener named after her fiancee — shocking fans.
Since announcing their engagement, Davidson had gifted Grande a $100k engagement ring and the pair had moved into a $16 million apartment in Manhattan.
They’ve peppered their social media with loved-up selfies and surprisingly frank details about their relationship — Grande even boasting to fans about the size of her fiancee’s penis.
But in recent weeks, Grande has been hit by the tragic death of ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, who died of a suspected drug overdose last month. The pair had dated for almost two years before they split in April, one month before Grande started dating Davidson.
Grande cancelled a string of public appearances following his death, retreating from the public eye and ditching all publicity commitments for her newly-released album. Fans were stunned last week when she dropped the ‘official music video’ to current single Breathin: three-minutes of grainy footage of her pet pig frolicking on a rug.
In her latest cancellation, Grande was a no-show planned performance at a cancer benefit last week. Her manager, Scooter Braun, was present and told the audience he was “frustrated” Grande had dropped out but that she was “going through” things.
”Someone I’m very close to was supposed to come sing for you today, and because of things that she’s going through, she couldn’t be here today. And while I was frustrated, being the manager, my wife, being who she always is, just looked at me and she goes, ‘She needs this time,’” he said.
Grande and Davidson are yet to publicly comment on the split reports — but Davidson appears to have deleted his social media channels. Their silence hasn’t stopped fans from reacting to the news:
