Claims Amber Heard’s lawyer was seen crying in court toilets after Johnny Depp trial

A man in court for the final day of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s trial claims he spotted Ms Heard’s lawyer head to the toilets in tears.

Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard: When will there be a verdict?

Amber Heard’s lawyer was reportedly spotted making a swift departure from the courtroom to go and cry in the bathroom at the end of the last day of the high-profile trial.

Elaine Bredehoft became teary before walking to the toilet, emerging a short while later with the appearance of someone who had been crying, a bystander who was in court claimed.

It is not clear what Bredehoft may have been upset about. News.com.au has contacted her for comment.

The suspected breakdown came after six brutal weeks of testimony from Ms Heard and her ex-husband Johnny Depp, along with several respective witnesses.

Heard is being sued by Depp for $US50 million ($A67m) for implying he abused her in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed. Although she did not name him, he claims her allegations are false and cost him lucrative movie roles.

Heard has countersued, asking for $US100 million ($A134m) and claiming she suffered “rampant physical violence and abuse” at his hands.

Both teams delivered their closing arguments before the jury Friday (local time), after which Ms Bredehoft was apparently seen in an emotional state..

A frequent court-goer, who operates a Twitter account called “jamesfromcourt”, claimed in a tweet: “Late after trial, before the jury went home, #ElaineBredehoft left for the bathroom crying. We all felt terrible for her. After she came out, we tried to make her smile. I hope it helped.”

He later commented it “must be hard for her to deal with all of this public attention”.

He later appeared in a YouTube video to share more detail about what he claims he saw.

“It was around 5 o’clock, right before the jury decided they were going to go home for the day,” he told Andy Signore, the man behind the channel.

“Everyone had pretty much left, but there were a few people hanging around, just in case they had [reached] a verdict.

“Three of us were standing outside the bathroom when we saw her basically kind of not run, but go into the bathroom very quickly crying. And then one of them was going to go in after her, but another woman entered the bathroom, too.”

He added that when Ms Bredehoft left the bathroom she appeared to have a “red nose” like she “had been blowing her nose or something”.

“She seemed a little bit better, but … we noticed. It was very visible, because she’s cried a couple of times in court as well that we’ve noticed. So we all had said something about it, like … we feel so bad for her.

“So after she came out, we all were like, ‘Hey, you’re doing a great job. It must be so hard. We understand. It’s not you,’ and stuff. She smiled and she said thank you and then went back into the courtroom,” he said.

Former LA District Attorney Emily D. Baker said there was “no shame” in crying after such a difficult case.

“This had to be a hard case for Elaine, I would never want to try.

“This is a hard case to try, it is hard to do this in front of the public eye.

“Six-week trials are exhausting. Exhausting.

“So I do not fault her for crying, it is a very human response after a very long trial.”

The jury will continue deliberations later today.
