Hilarious social reactions to Depp and Heard’s ‘hostage video’
BARNABY Joyce admits he is no director, but even he reckons Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s grovelling apology could have used some better acting.
BARNABY Joyce admits he is no director.
But the Deputy Prime Minister and Agriculture Minister reckons he certainly would have done a much better job directing the grovelling apology issued by actor Johnny Depp and wife Amber Heard.
The celebrity couple, who broke Australia’s quarantine laws when their two dogs were illegally smuggled into Australia in April last year, yesterday stunned the world with their public apology video for the Australian government.
The Australian Government Department of Agriculture and Water Resources YouTube channel published a 40-second video of the pair, stoic and unsmiling, telling viewers that Australia is a “beautiful island” that’s “free of many pests and diseases that are common around the world”.
While many on social media called it bizarre and ridiculed the star pair, Mr Joyce told Sunrise host Samantha Armytage biosecurity threats were no joke.
While Mr Joyce said his Facebook page has received more likes since the video went viral, he said it was great as the world would know how tough our biosecurity laws are.
Mr Joyce said the department had no choice but to be strict because the threat of rabies was all too real and could decimate our distinct wildlife.
He also maintains he would have euthenasised Boo and Pistol if push had come to shove.
When asked his thoughts of the video itself, Mr Joyce said he definitely would have asked for a couple of takes.
“Let’s definitely use this as an educational tool and I think that’s happening right now,” he said.
“As far as me directing that atrocious movie, no. Even I could have done a little bit better than that. Do it again Johnny. Do it with gusto. Rise to the camera, old trout, rise to the camera.”

The Heard/Depp video is now the best hostage thriller of 2016. I feel compelled to give it a star rating.

Apparently 'Barnaby Joyce forced Johnny Depp to make a ridiculous hostage video' is not a good enough reason to call people at work

Show the Depp video on all in-bound flights into Australia.
I know it was said at the time but increasingly the Depp stuff is just like that Australian episode of The Simpsons.

The video apology was played to a packed Gold Coast courtroom yesterday, with the Hollywood pair in town to seek a resolution to the quarantine dispute regarding their two dogs.
Across social media, viewers couldn’t quite believe what they were watching, with many comparing the apology to a hostage video and wondering just how much say the pair had in filming it.
