Notoriously private Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe has taken the rare move of announcing a massive life update with fans.
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is expecting his first child with girlfriend Erin Darke.
It’s been 22 years since the Harry Potter cast appeared in the franchise’s first film in the world of Hogwarts, and now Radcliffe is set to become a dad for the first time.
The 33-year-old UK actor met his girlfriend on the set of a film they both worked on in 2012, and have previously said it was love at first sight.
The duo were pictured together as they took a stroll in New York City on Friday, The Sun reports.
Darke, who was sporting a baby bump in the candid photos, shortly confirmed her pregnancy via her rep.
Radcliffe is overjoyed to be a father for the first time, with a source saying: “Daniel is so excited to be a dad. His relationship with Erin is really special and everyone thinks they will be amazing parents.
“They have kept it pretty quiet up until now but she can’t hide her bump anymore.”
The couple appeared engaged in conversation as they strolled along in laid-back attire, with Darke donning a long checked jacket and black trousers. She also sported a black hoodie underneath to keep shielded from the cold.
Meanwhile, Radcliffe opted for a colourful blue and yellow hat and a blue padded jacket.
The couple met in late 2012 on set of the film Kill Your Darlings (2013), in which they both featured.

Although they’ve mostly kept their relationship private, making their red carpet debut together just last year, Radcliffe opened up in an interview about the first time they met.
“It‘ll be a hell of a story to tell our kids one day because of what our characters do with each other,” he said.
“Our characters are meeting and flirting with each other, so there is this kind of sweet record of us just meeting for the first time and flirting.”
In the film, they have a few romantic scenes together, including a sex scene.
In another interview, Radcliffe confessed he was immediately attracted to Darke, saying he didn’t need to act in their scenes.
“There’s a moment when she makes me laugh, and I’m laughing as me and not as my character.
“She was incredibly funny and smart. I knew I was in trouble.”
The pair bonded over their mutual love of acting and have shared they are both “incredibly supportive of the other person’s career.”
Throughout their long-term relationship, there have been numerous rumours that they were engaged or even married, which the couple have denied.
“I think that’s the kind of relationship I always aspire to have with someone I’m in a relationship with,” Radcliffe previously said, referring to Darke as his “best friend”.
“You want that person to be your best friend. In the case of Erin, we definitely are.”
