Halsey updates Instagram bio with the pronouns She/They

The popstar has made a small edit to their Instagram page, confirming what pronouns they’d like to go by.

Halsey is making it clear what their pronouns are.

The singer, who is currently pregnant, made a small edit to their Instagram bio, which reads, “(she/they)”.

While the star didn’t make a big announcement, it wasn’t long until their fans noticed the change, and showed their support.

“I hope Halsey changing their pronouns gives others the confidence to express what also makes them feel comfortable. It’s okay to not fit into the categories society puts you in,” one fan tweeted.

“I love Halsey so much she literally changed my life I couldn’t be more grateful for them,” said another.

It seems like Halsey saw some of the outpouring of this positive feedback, because she posted a simple “Thank u” on their Instagram story.

Pronouns are becoming more common in social media bios recently, even if the person is cisgender – as opposed to transgender – as they normalise the conversation of asking people what their pronouns are.

It’s also a step forward towards not assuming someone’s gender.

Halsey has been incredibly open and honest about gender, recently writing on Instagram, “I thought pregnancy would give me very strong, binary feelings about ‘womanhood’ but truly it has levelled my perception of gender entirely.”

Halsey shocked fans in January by revealing that she was pregnant with her first child.

“Surprise!” the Without Me singer captioned a series of baby bump-bearing photos taken by photographer Sam Dameshek.

In two of the pictures, the 26-year-old poses completely topless while wearing a pair of baggy denim jeans.

Halsey’s manager, Anthony Tomasli, commented, “I love you with all my heart!!! We’re all so happy for you!! You’re gonna be the best mom ever.”

Fans speculate that Halsey may be expecting a baby with Alev Aydin. The screenwriter reposted a picture of the singer’s pregnancy photo shoot with two red heart emojis on his Instagram Story.

He also commented on the pop star’s post, “Heart so full, I love you, sweetness,” to which she replied, “I love you!!!!!! And I love this mini human already.”
