Fans voice concerns as Britney spotted on ‘day trip’ from mental health facility
Britney Spears has been photographed on day release from her mental health facility — and the star’s demeanour has fans worried.
Britney Spears was permitted to go on a “day trip” with boyfriend Sam Asghari amid her stay at a mental health facility over the weekend, a source told Page Six.
Spears, 37, was spotted wearing a red dress and brown Birkenstocks as she made her way out of the Montage hotel in Beverly Hills, with Asghari, 25, shielding her from the paparazzi on Easter Sunday.
However, a source confirmed the break was for less than 24 hours and the Oops! … I Did It Again singer has not been permanently released from treatment.
This is the first time Spears has been spotted out in public since sources confirmed she checked herself into a mental health facility in April to cope with her father’s declining health.
“Britney was having a hard time dealing with her dad’s health issues,” a source previously told Page Six. “Britney hasn’t been drinking or doing drugs or anything, she just has some very difficult emotional and mental health issues. She’s gone away to try to deal with her issues before they get worse.”
Fans of the pop star have questioned whether Spears is being held at the facility against her will via a social media campaign called #FreeBritney. Her mother, Lynn Spears, fuelled speculation by liking social media posts with the hashtag.
Some fans have expressed concerns over the singer’s appearance since the photos surfaced this week, accusing Spears’ team of staging the photo opportunity:
