Elon Musk relentlessly booed after surprise appearance at Dave Chappelle gig
The tech billionaire joked that his surprise appearance was drowned out by the cries of “unhinged leftists” he’d recently “offended.”
Elon Musk was drowned out by boos when he joined Dave Chappelle onstage at a gig in San Francisco — and laughed off the snub Monday as the cries of “unhinged leftists” he’d recently “offended.”
Musk, 51, made the surprise appearance at the Chase Center late Sunday after Chappelle asked his audience to “make some noise for the richest man in the world” — the title the Tesla boss and Twitter owner has just regained, the New York Post reports.

Wearing an “I love Twitter” T-shirt, Musk then held his hands up in apparent confusion as Chappelle noted the loud “cheers and boos.”
As the hostility grew louder, Musk told the comedian: “You weren’t expecting this, were ya?”
“It sounds like some of them people you fired are in the audience,” Chappelle, 49, joked of Musk’s brutal axings just a few miles away at Twitter’s Silicon Valley HQ.
Chappelle — who has resisted his own backlash for jokes about the transgender community — quipped that “all those people who are booing … have terrible seats.”
“Look, motherf – kers — this n — er isn’t even tryna die on Earth,” Chappelle joked of Musk and his dreams of moving people to Mars.
“His whole business model is ‘F – k Earth, I’m leaving anyway,’” Chappelle said, pretending that his guest offered to give him “the first comedy club on Mars.”

“You n — ers can boo all you want — this n — er gave me a jet pack last Christmas,” the comedian quipped, getting a rare burst of laughter from the time Musk was onstage.
During his brief appearance, Musk even relived Chappelle’s notorious Rick James skit — shouting to the already displeased crowd: “I’m rich, bitch!”
Musk, in a tweet on Monday, directly acknowledged the hostile response from some in the crowd, while noting that there had also been support.
“Technically, it was 90% cheers & 10% boos (except during quiet periods), but, still, that’s a lot of boos, which is a first for me in real life,” he wrote, noting that such abuse is “frequent on Twitter.”
“It’s almost as if I’ve offended SF’s unhinged leftists … but nahhh,” he added sarcastically.

Chappelle had gone even further during the show, comparing the abuse to the anger that led to Antifa riots.
“You hear that sound, Elon? That’s the sound of pending civil unrest. I can’t wait to see which store you decimate next, motherf – ker,” he said, telling objectors to “shut the f – k up with your boos.”
Footage of the awkward appearance soon made Musk go viral on his own $US44 billion ($A64.2 billion) social media platform.
Reporter Alejandra Caraballo used one of Musk’s own favoured phrases to sum up the night: “He f – ked around and is quickly finding out.”
“Even Chappelle’s transphobic fans don’t like this jackass,” she wrote of the Twitter boss.
The Bleacher Report’s Tyler Conway, meanwhile, said that “unintentionally getting that weird nerd Elon booed by 20k people might be the funniest thing” Chappelle has “ever done.”
Journalism professor Christian Christensen summed it up as “Comedy punches down, and the crowd says ‘F – k You.’ Good.”
