Ed Sheeran’s cousin says he has had to ditch the star’s surname after threats from his record label.

Jethro Sheeran, who goes by rapper stage name Alonestar, recorded the song Raise Em Up with his famous relative in 2010 and has recorded 21 remixed versions of it for Spotify.

But now, he alleges Ed’s label, Warner Music, demanded that Ed’s image and name be removed from the artwork.

Jethro, 42, opted to comply, rather than face an expensive legal battle.

However, he made some scathing comments about his Grammy-winning cousin, whose father John Sheeran is the brother of Jethro’s father.

“I was super disappointed in him,” Jethro told The Sun. “Even my lawyers were shocked how he could do this to family.

“But it’s OK. I’m doing great, working on my new album.

“I wish him the best, just far away from me.”

The Sun contacted both a representative for Ed, 33, and Warner Music for comment.

Sheeran shares two young daughters with his wife Cherry Seaborn, whom he began seeing in 2015 after they had known each other since childhood.

He has a very close relationship with his parents, John and Imogen.

“The relationship that I had with my parents has completely changed from like, it was amazing before, but now it’s just like there’s this eternal gratefulness and respect of being like, I know what they went through and I’m still kind of like, going through it,” Sheeran previously told Zane Lowe on New Music Daily.
