Debbie Reynolds dies after suffering stroke
DEBBIE Reynolds has died in hospital after suffering a stroke, just one day after her daughter Carrie Fisher’s death.
HOLLYWOOD legend Debbie Reynolds has died just one day after the death of her daughter, Carrie Fisher.
Reynolds was rushed to hospital in Los Angeles earlier today as a result of a possible stroke.
TMZ reports that the medical emergency took place as the 84-year-old was at her son Todd’s home in Beverly Hills where they were planning Fisher’s funeral.
He confirmed Reynolds’ death to Variety, simply stating: “She wanted to be with Carrie.”
He also revealed to CNN their final conversation was about her late daughter.
“My mother passed away a short time ago. She spoke to me this morning and said she missed Carrie,” he said, “She’s with Carrie now.”
Shortly after the news broke, Reynolds’ stepdaughter Joely posted a sad tribute on Twitter.
“God speed mama,” she tweeted, alongside a picture of them together.

Reynolds was a leading lady in Hollywood musicals and comedies in the 1950s and 1960s, including Singin’ in the Rain.
She received a best actress Academy Award nomination for the 1964 musical The Unsinkable Molly Brown and received the Academy’s Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award last year.
It’s understood Reynolds had been distraught since Fisher died on Tuesday morning [local time in Los Angeles] after suffering what was described as a massive heart attack on Friday while on a flight from London.
Following the death, Reynolds paid tribute to her daughter on Facebook, writing: “Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter. I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop. Love Carrie’s Mother.”
Reynolds and Fisher were close over the past few years but in a 2011 joint interview with Oprah, Fisher revealed, “We had a fairly volatile relationship earlier on in my 20s.”
“I didn’t want to be around her,” she said, “I did not want to be Debbie Reynolds’ daughter.”
Reynolds responded by saying: “It’s very hard when your child doesn’t want to talk to you and you want to talk to them, and you want to touch them, you want to hold them.
“It was a total estrangement. She didn’t talk to me for probably 10 years. So that was the most difficult time of all. Very painful, very heartbreaking.”
So heartsick. Debbie went to be with Carrie. It's such a devastating 1,2 punch. She was my "mom" for years & I loved her dearly.A legend.

Debbie Reynolds was one of the last of Hollywood Royalty. It breaks my heart that she is gone. I'd hoped that my grieving was done for 2016.
