David Beckham tucks into $2000 pie on private jet

DAVID Beckham was desperate to enjoy his favourite dish on a flight from the UK to America — and cost was certainly not a concern.

DAVID Beckham tucked into pie and mash on board a private jet — with a price tag of A$2050 (£1000).

The footie legend, 40, was desperate to enjoy his favourite dish on a flight from the UK to America.

So he had it ordered from Tony’s Pie & Mash Shop in Waltham Abbey, Essex, and scoffed it while he was in the air.

The cost of serving it mid-flight took the price of the A$( (£4.45) meal to four figures.

Daniel Hulme, who runs catering company On Air Dining for private jet customers, said: “A sports star who used to fly back and forth from London while based in the US wanted pie and mash with green liquor.

“It cost over £1000. For us to get it, take it to the airport and get it through security cost a fortune.”

Keeping the food in a decent condition in transit also added to the expense.

David, who earns £68 million a year with wife Victoria, has been a fan of Tony’s Pie & Mash Shop for more than ten years, calling it his “favourite restaurant”.

A friend of Becks said last night: “There were times David took a private flight from London and ordered pie and mash. I doubt it would have been this price. But that was a matter for the plane company.”

Meanwhile, the eldest child of the former England captain has played the ultimate trick on his old man after finding him asleep on the sofa on Christmas Day.

Brooklyn carefully placed random objects on the sleepy individual — in this case, chocolates — before taking a photo and uploading it to social media.
