Chris D’Elia faces lawsuit after allegedly possessing child pornography

Comedian Chris D’Elia is facing a lawsuit less than a year after several women accused him of sexual harassment, sexual assault and grooming on Twitter.

A new lawsuit has accused US stand up comedian Chris D’Elia of soliciting hundreds of sexually explicit photos and videos from a “Jane Doe” woman, taken when she was underage at 17.

Doe is accusing D’Elia of violating federal child pornography and child sexual exploitation laws, and is one of many women accusing the comedian of preying on them when they were teenagers.

This new lawsuit comes less than a year after several women accused D’Elia, 40, of sexual harassment, sexual assault and grooming on Twitter.

D’Elia has denied he ever knowingly pursued any underage women, said he had never exchanged any inappropriate photos with people who had “tweeted about him” and said all his relationships had been legal and consensual.

“When I was in my final year of high school and still a child, I was groomed by a celebrity twice my age,” Doe alleged in a statement released on Tuesday by her attorneys, Monica Beck and Chloe Neely of the Fierberg National Law Group.

“Chris D’Elia abused his status and fame to lure me in, take advantage, and manipulate me when I was at a vulnerable age. I want any other girls out there to know that they are not alone, and it is time to get justice for the mental and physical toll he has put us through.”

The lawsuit alleges that D’Elia – who was 34 at the time – “constructed a manipulative, controlling and abusive dynamic in which he demanded Ms. Doe provide him sexually explicit images of herself over the internet, directed her what specific sexual poses and acts she should perform for him, and psychologically punished her when she refused.”

Eventually, D’Elia allegedly persuaded Doe to attend one of his stand-up shows, during which Doe’s attorneys claim that he “lured her to his hotel room … separated her from her friends, and took advantage of her youth and inexperience to have sex with her”.

He allegedly continuously asked Jane Doe of her age and if she was in high school.

“At the time, and subsequently, Mr. D’Elia expressed that Ms. Doe’s age, innocence, and virginity made the encounter ‘hot’,” Doe’s attorneys alleged.

In June last year, D’Elia told TMZ, “I know I have said and done things that might have offended people during my career, but I have never knowingly pursued any underage women at any point.

“All of my relationships have been both legal and consensual and I have never met or exchanged any inappropriate photos with the people who have tweeted about me.”
