COMEDIAN Roseanne Barr has posted a shocking close-up of herself with a bruised, swollen and bloody face.

The 62-year-old, who was one of the most recognisable women of the ‘90s thanks to her starring role in iconic family sitcom Roseanne, shared the picture in a series of tweets overnight.

In the first, since-deleted tweet, the comic captioned the shocking picture by making an off-colour joke that she’d been involved in a “tussle with Bill Cosby.”

“U should see that mfer,” she wrote.

After deleting the tweet, she reposted the photo again with the true explanation for her painful new look: “Got a chemical peel to look more sexier. Joked about tussling cosby.”

A few hours later, Roseanne tweeted another picture of herself. It either must have been before the chemical peel, or she’s a remarkably fast healer, because she’s back to her old self again:
