Victoria Beckham’s cheeky swipe in gushing anniversary tribute

Victoria Beckham has taken a swipe at the comments that have dogged her marriage to David Beckham in a very personal Instagram post.

Victoria and David Beckham celebrated 23 years of marriage on Monday by taking a trip down memory lane.

Victoria, best known to fans as “Posh Spice” from the Spice Girls, took to Instagram with a sweet message for her football star husband – which included a cheeky dig at the criticism they’ve copped over the years.

“They say he isn’t funny, they say I never smile, they said it wouldn’t last,” the fashion designer, 48, captioned a picture of the two smiling. “Today we celebrate 23 years being married. David you are my everything, I love you so much!!!!”

Both Victoria and David, 47, posted pictures from the early days of their relationship to their Instagram Stories, poking fun of their interesting fashion choices at the time.

David also shared a clip from the late ’90s of him and his leading lady being interviewed by Sacha Baron Cohen in character as Ali G.

In the throwback interview, Victoria revealed the pair met at a soccer game. When the funnyman asked David if he was originally a fan of the Spice Girls, he replied, “No, but I was into Posh!”

“Twenty-three years ago today Posh became Mrs Beckham, but she will always be Posh,” David captioned the video, tagging his wife and their four kids.

“Happy Anniversary WOW 23 years & 4 beautiful kiddies. I love you, we all love you.”

David shared hilarious throwback pictures.

His tribute included this iconic leather moment.

The couple’s second child, Romeo Beckham, wished the lovebirds well wishes on their special day via his Instagram Story, writing, “Happy anniversary to the best parents in the world, I love you so much!”

The couple’s fans and famous friends also congratulated them on the achievement in the comments sections of their adorable posts.

“Happy anniversary to you both! We love uuuuu,” gushed Eva Longoria, who is godmother to their daughter, Harper.

“Congratulations️,” added filmmaker Sam Taylor Johnson, while one fan wrote, “You proved them wrong. And what a smile. Happy anniversary to you both.”

The couple said “I do” at Luttrellstown Castle, Ireland, on July 4, 1999.

They share four children: Brooklyn, 23, Romeo, 19, Cruz, 17, and Harper, 10.
