Hollywood star Sharon Stone has surprised her followers by posting a near-nude photo, with many applauding her for the “liberating” act.

The US actress, 66, took to Instagram with the cheeky snap, which showed her wearing nothing but skimpy blue bikini bottoms as she enjoyed a painting session.

The Basic Instinct star wrote in the caption, “Sometimes I just have to go from pool to painting.”

Thousands of Stone’s fans and several of her film colleagues took to the comment section of the post applauding the actress for her risque snap, with one writing, “How liberating!”

“Bravo!!!!!” actor Josh Brolin chimed in.

“What a fantastic idea, creating art undressed,” another said.

Stone started painting during the pandemic in 2020, and has since kept fans in the loop with her impressive creations via social media.

Meanwhile, the actress told TheHollywood Reporter in a new interview published Wednesday she lost $US18 million in savings after having a stroke in 2001, with people she knew taking advantage of her while she was recovering.

“I had $18 million saved because of all my success, but when I got back into my bank account, it was all gone. My refrigerator, my phone — everything was in other people’s names,” Stone told the outlet.

“I had zero money.”

Years later, and having survived the “near-death” ordeal, the Casino star said she has found a way to move on from the betrayal.

“I decided not to hang onto being sick or to any bitterness or anger. If you bite into the seed of bitterness, it never leaves you. But if you hold faith, even if that faith is the size of a mustard seed, you will survive,” Stone said.

“So, I live for joy now. I live for purpose.”
