Singer Selena Gomez has opened up about her dating life in a candid chat.

Gomez, 31, is currently on the press circuit to promote her new song “Single Soon” in which she professes to being “high maintenance”.

The singer has been in the spotlight this year but not for her love life.

She hit headlines after ending up in an odd feud with her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber’s new wife Hailey Bieber.

It was a whole TikTok drama, but basically, fans accused Hailey of making fun of Gomez because she overlaminated her eyebrows, relishing in the fact Gomez was body-shamed over some photos of her in a bikini.

It ended in Gomez commenting on a TikTok that called Hailey a “mean girl” with the words “I love you”, and then announcing she was going to take a break from social media.

The two have since squashed the beef and told their fans not to send hate to each other.

But while she’s been embroiled in drama with her ex’s wife, she’s stayed resolutely quiet about her own romantic life.

Gomez was on/off with Bieber for several years, she’s also dated singer The Weeknd.

However, she hasn’t been linked to a big public romance in years and there’s nothing but rumours about who she has been seeing.

In a refreshingly honest chat she spilled the beans on being “high maintenance,” when it comes to love.

In a radio interview she explained what she really meant by declaring she was hard work.

“I think I have standards, and I think I live in a world right now where boys confuse standards with high maintenance,” Gomez said on the Hits 1 LA radio show.

Gomez said that the line was really “fun” because she isn’t “ashamed” to say what she “requires” in a relationship.

“So, in a way, it was just meant to be for the attitude of the song, and that’s genuinely what I feel,” she said.

Gomez didn’t stop there and explained that really she was just looking for someone that was “cool” but not in the traditional sense.

“You just gotta be nice and, like, please make me laugh and also just be good to my family and people around you.”
