Rachel Bilson says she and Rami Malek are ‘good’ after Instagram throwback photo fiasco
Rachel Bilson has revealed she had to go to therapy after upsetting Rami Malek by posting an unflattering throwback photo of him.
Rachel Bilson says Rami Malek has reconnected with her weeks after she mentioned he had asked her to take down a photo she posted on Instagram of the two of them as teenagers.
“Rami and I actually have talked since that came out,” The O.C. actress said on the LadyGang podcast. “He connected with me, and we’re all good. He was so sweet and we’re totally fine now and we talked about it and we’re good.”
How the photo fiasco started
In 2019 Bilson posted a throwback photo from when her and Malek were high school classmates.
A few weeks ago she told the Armchair Expert podcast that Malek didn’t appreciate the photo and he sent her a direct message asking her to take it down.
“But it wasn’t like, ‘Hey! How are you?!’ It was straight to, ‘I would really appreciate if you take that down. I’m a really private person,’” she told the podcast.
Rachel Bilson had a panic attack over the fiasco
In a new interview on the LadyGang podcast, Bilson said she panicked when she realised her comments about Malek wanting the photo taken down had gone viral.
“I was so mortified though. Like, I was having a panic attack,” Bilson said. “I had to go to therapy that day, and I was like, ‘I am having anxiety. I did not want this to resurface in this way. I feel so bad. Oh my god. Rami is going to think I’m doing this again.’”
Rami Malek and Rachel Bilson have buried the hatchet
As mentioned, Malek and Bilson have spoken since her initial comments on the Armchair Expert podcast.
“Rami and I actually have talked since that came out,” she said on the Lady Gang podcast. “He connected with me, and we’re all good. He, you know, was so sweet and we’re totally fine now and we talked about it and we’re good,” she said.
“He was so gracious, and I totally understood where he was coming form and he understood me. And I was just so happy we were able to squash it and, like, move on.
“It actually turned out to be a good thing for a reason, because we were able to reconnect and, like, make it better and everything is great,” she said.
