Pop star Kim Petras’ extreme body transformation

Kim Petras has been spotted after undergoing a drastic body transformation, looking noticeably slimmer than she was just last year.

German pop princess Kim Petras has been spotted in Los Angeles after undergoing what appears to be a drastic body transformation, looking noticeably slimmer than she was just last year.

The Unholy singer, 31, stepped out in LA in skin-tight hotpants and a crop top, her brunette hair and waiflike figure making her near-unrecognisable from the curvy blonde pop star who’s shot to fame in the past few years.

Petras joins the ranks of a number of other pop stars – among them Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson – who’ve undergone noticeable slimdowns in recent months.

Petras’ new look comes months after she cancelled her planned summer 2024 festival appearances due to “health issues.”

“My buns, I’m devastated to be writing this but I’m going through some health issues and under medical advice I have had to make the hard decision to not perform at festivals this summer,” she informed fans in late April.

“I love u so much and I’ll make it up to you and be back better than ever very soon,” the star added. She had been scheduled to perform at major pop festivals in cities including London and Barcelona over the northern summer months.

The transgender pop star first found fame in her native Germany as a 14-year-old, when she appeared on a current affairs program to discuss her gender transition. Many media outlets followed her story as she underwent gender confirmation surgery at 16 years old.

By 19, she’d moved to Los Angeles to pursue a pop career and in 2017, released the first in a string of singles in collaboration with controversial music producer Dr. Luke.

Petras’ biggest break came in 2022 when she duetted with Sam Smith on the global number one hit Unholy, which broke records for both artists: Petras became the first openly transgender person to have a Billboard Hot 100 single, while Smith became the first openly non-binary person to do so.

In an interview with news.com.au last year, Petras spoke about her own pop idols – among them, Aussie Kylie Minogue, who she first met during a 2019 Australian visit for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

“I’m a Kylie Minogue stan [stalker/fan], before I am anything else. It was the craziest thing ever. Literally the first restaurant I went to in Sydney, Kylie Minogue was there. Then we met at Mardi Gras, and it was very camp,” Petras said.

Perhaps an even bigger meeting for the Madonna superfan came when she met the Queen of Pop herself, at a party after Petras performed on Saturday Night Live.

“I was honestly very drunk, and I was just like: ‘You are the blueprint of every pop artist that’s ever been. No one’s ever done it like you. I was pretending you were my friend when I was a kid.’ And I was just going on and on and on and on,” she said.

Madonna accepted the drunken fangirling graciously – and, perhaps sensing Petras might not remember the meeting the next morning, suggested they get a photo together.

“I’m really glad that she did that … I feel like she knew I was just drunk and I was gonna just keep going,” she said with a laugh.
