The former Home And Away actress has been spotted in her home city of Perth, marking her first time back to Australia in years.

Australian actress Melissa George has returned to her home country for the first time in years.

The mother-of-two, 47, who is based in Paris, France, took to Instagram to share she was enjoying down time on a sheep farm in Perth.

Posting a photo of the beach to her stories, George wrote, “Winter in Perth … no place like home.”

Elsewhere, the former Home And Away star uploaded videos and photos of a shearing session, before sharing a stylish photo of herself in a black blazer and white pants, adding, “I clearly didn’t do any of the shearing.”

It’s, seemingly, George’s first time in Australia since 2018, when she filmed the Channel 9 series, Bad Mothers.

George has two sons, Raphael and Solal, with her ex-partner Jean-David Blanc, whom she split from in 2016 following allegations of domestic violence. The pair share joint custody.

The Grey’s Anatomy actress has long spoken of her affection for Paris, and regularly uploads photos of her glamorous life.

She posted her strongest love letter to the city early last year, suggesting it forms part of her identity: “When I look in the mirror I see two things: my sons and Paris,” she wrote.

But that love affair landed her in hot water back in 2012, when George gave an infamous interview many took as a snub to Australia.

The Morning Show co-hosts Kylie Gillies and Larry Emdur were mainly talking to George about her big break on Home And Away – in which she played Angel Parrish for three years from 1993.

Speaking to The Sun-Herald shortly after the trainwreck TV interview, George was frustrated being largely defined by the local soap opera.

“I love this city [Sydney] so much. And I want to come home a lot, but the stress that this has created in me is not worthy of my health,” she said.

“I think it will be the last time I visit and work here for a while, to be honest, because I just get too upset coming home.

“I don’t need credibility from my country anymore, I just need them all to be quiet. If they have nothing intelligent to say, please don’t speak to me anymore.

“I’d rather be having a croissant and a little espresso in Paris or walking my french bulldog in New York City.”

The Golden Globe nominee was forced to apologise following severe backlash, assuring fans she was “proud” to be Australian.

“The events of the week have upset me and I want to apologise to any of my fans who were offended about my comments about Australia last weekend.

“I’m really proud of my Australian roots and I will continue to come home often to see my family and to work here. In fact my favourite croissants in the world are at the Bourke Street Bakery in Surry Hills.

“I’m also proud of my early work in Australia and am always happy for people to refer to Home And Away, but what I really want to be able to talk to my fans about is the work I’m doing now.”

George most recently starred opposite Justin Theroux in Apple TV’s The Mosquito Coast, which finished airing its second season in January.
