Matt Damon stops for coffee in small NSW town Jugiong

A small NSW town got a pleasant surprise when Hollywood actor Matt Damon dropped into their local coffee shop.

Matt Damon must-see movies: the ultimate list

Matt Damon was the talk of the very small town of Jugiong last week when he dropped into a local cafe for some coffee.

The Hollywood A-lister ducked into the Long Track Pantry last week in NSW’s South West Slopes, with one lucky fan managing to get a photo with the actor.

The Hilltops Council reported in its monthly tourism newsletter that Matt was visiting with his family and good friend Chris Hemsworth.

“We hope they enjoyed their visit to our beautiful region,” council said in its newsletter.

Since April, tourism has been incredibly strong in the small town.

“It is great to see good numbers in all Hilltops information centres and hear reports of strong accommodation numbers across the region. We look forward to welcoming more visitors as the seasons change and people continue to explore New South Wales,” the council said.

Matt Damon was forced to quarantine in Australia in February, ahead of filming the upcoming Marvel movie Thor: Love and Thunder.

The 50-year-old US actor, along with his wife Luciana Barroso and their three children, reportedly spent 14 days at a breathtaking European-style home in Knockrow, just outside of Byron Bay.

The latest Thor movie is being filmed in Sydney, and will also star an A-list cast including Byron Bay resident Chris Hemsworth, as well as Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt and Christian Bale. It is being directed by New Zealand director Taika Waititi.

Damon, who arrived in Sydney via private jet on January 17, earlier said he was “so excited” to be heading Down Under for work, after he enjoyed a lengthy stint here in 2019.

“I’m so excited that my family and I will be able to call Australia home for the next few months,” he said.

“Australian film crews are world-renowned for their professionalism and are a joy to work with so the 14 days of quarantine will be well worth it.”

As we know, Matt Damon isn’t the only huge name to drop into Australia recently, with Zac Efron making NSW his home in recent months.

Zac has been residing in Byron Bay since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, shacking up with his ex-girlfriend Vanessa Valladaras, a local to the area.

Whilst here, the star filmed a new movie Gold, in Adelaide, frequently moving between the two locations.
