Margot Robbie has been embraced by her local fans during a surprise trip back to Australia, with the star spotted in Perth on Monday.

The Barbie actress, 33, hosted a private event for her gin brand Papa Salt at the celebrity-favourite Indigo Oscar restaurant at Cottesloe Beach.

In videos emerging on social media, Robbie can be seen being mobbed by adoring fans as she left the restaurant, with the star happily stopping for selfies before later hopping into a black car.

It comes after the Queensland-born star was the toast of another Papa Salt event in Brisbane on Sunday, shouting the first round on the bar for patrons at the trendy eatery Mr Percival’s.

Fans flooded social media with videos of Robbie, thanking her for their free drinks.

The I, Tonya star has been busy promoting her Byron Bay-made gin label over the past week, after launching it earlier this year alongside Ackerley and their friends Josey McNamara, Regan Riskas and Charlie Maas.

The three-time Oscar nominee landed in Brisbane last Wednesday alongside Ackerley, before heading to Robbie’s home city of the Gold Coast, where she was photographed having lunch in Main Beach on Thursday afternoon.

The Babylon actress’ family all live on the Gold Coast, including her mother Sarie Kessler, who Robbie visits as often as she can between productions.

Robbie’s public outings over the past week come after she’s remained largely under the radar in the months following the blockbuster success of the Greta Gerwig directed Barbie, which made over $1 billion at the global box office.

Shortly after the film hit the financial milestone, the star was spotted enjoying a holiday in Greece with Ackerley in late September.

While it’s not known how long she plans to stay in her home country, Robbie has more down time than usual due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes, with just one announced acting project in the pipeline.

In October, it was revealed Robbie is set to reunite with her Barbie co-star Ryan Gosling for an Ocean’s 11 prequel movie, which Robbie’s production company LuckyChap Entertainment has backed.

The film is still in its early development stages, with director Jay Roach and writer Carrie Solomon attached to the project.
