Madonna posts burqa-clad picture on Instagram

WE’RE used to seeing her in a lot less, but this big star covered up her famous face in a burqa today - and had a pretty odd explanation for doing so.

MADONNA’S odd Instagram antics continue, with the pop queen today posting a picture of herself clad in a burqa, only her eyes visible.

It’s the latest in a long line of questionable Instagram posts for the singer, who has in the past shared racially insensitive, sexually explicit and just plain weird content on the channel, her main point of contact with fans.

Madge’s explanation for dressing up in the body-hiding garment worn by many women of Islamic faith? “It’s that kind of day! #unapologeticbitch,” she captioned the pic.

Right-o.

The pic has caused something of a negative online reaction from fans — not just because Madonna’s playing dress-ups with another culture’s traditional garment.

Rather, Lady Gaga’s Little Monsters have been keen to point out that their idol co-opted the burqa FIRST (the opening track on Gaga’s latest album, Aura, invites listeners to see the girl “behind the burqa”).

Madonna fans have bitten back, pointing out that the Queen of Pop has been appropriating other cultures since Gaga was still in nappies.
