Katy Perry gets cold shoulder from Aussie icon

Katy Perry made sure to visit one of the country’s favourite residents while in Australia for her AFL grand final performance.

While Perry has been struggling to get streams for her new album, the same cannot be said for Pesto the penguin who has attracted millions of clicks on social media.

The not-so-little fury friend, weighing in at 22.5kg, has become an online sensation in recent weeks.

The penguin, who resides at Melbourne Sea Life Aquarium, has been dubbed a “fatty”, an “absolute unit” and a “linebacker”.

“Visited Pesto last night,” Perry said on Instagram. “He told me who will win in the AFL grand final tomorrow, but my lips are sealed.”

In one clip, Perry went in for a one-on-one chat with Pesto and even offered him a fistbump, to which the little chap not so politely declined.

Maybe he’s more of a Swiftie!

Sea Life Melbourne spokeswoman said that the aquarium has had the “highest visitation to our website ever.” “We have seen a huge uptake in visitation, from interstate and overseas,” she told Channel 10.

Perry, 39, who is reportedly making a cool $5 million to sing five songs, embarked on a full dress rehearsal on Thursday, where she was seen wearing a halter-neck blue crop top and white mini shorts.

But there’s been some controversy in the lead-up, with Perry reportedly at odds with AFL organisers.

It’s been claimed Perry wanted to sing at least two tracks from her new album 143, which has been a critical and commercial flop since its release earlier this month, while the league was hopeful she’d just sing her greatest hits.

Both parties ultimately reached a compromise, with Perry reportedly set to sing just one new track during the show.
