Joe Alwyn has stepped out since his reported break-up from Taylor Swift, and the photos reveal a sad but obvious truth.

Actor Joe Alwyn has been spotted for the first time since his reported split from Taylor Swift, and the photos prove he has lost the break-up.

Alwyn, 32, was seen out and about and not looking great.

He looked frazzled, slightly unkempt and had dark circles under his eyes. He was holding a jumper, but also wearing a jumper – so much was going on.

He looked like someone going through a bad break-up or a child who had lost their parents at an airport during a layover.

Relatable? Yes.

A good PR move? No.

You want your ex to think you’re thriving post break-up, not unable to determine whether you need two jumpers or not.

In comparison, Swift’s been spotted prancing around New York City with a gaggle of famous friends, including model Gigi Hadid and actor Blake Lively.

Swift looks great and she looks like she is living it up.

Alwyn looks like he forgot to pay his electricity bill and has been just kicked out of his share house in Sydney’s hipster suburb Newtown.

Alwyn and Swift dated for six glorious years. He is the rumoured inspiration behind some of her most romantic songs like ‘Lover,’ and their break-up has left fans guttered.

A fan even tweeted: “Real love is dead,” in the wake of their separation.

They’ve always been private about their relationship and Alwyn has never even given quotes on the songstress, besides asking people to respect their privacy.

The only reason we even know they’ve split is because it has been reported so widely and neither camp has made a move to declare that it isn’t true.

“It wasn’t dramatic,” a source told Page Six on April 8. “(The relationship) just ran its course.”

Some fans are still in denial, but surely these pictures prove that Alwyn doesn’t look like he has a nice girlfriend waiting for him at home.

In defence of Alwyn, we’ve all had enough unflattering photos of ourselves taken to realise that Alwyn’s latest look could just be bad timing.

Maybe he was running late? Maybe he was hungover? Maybe, there’d been a juicy fight in his family WhatsApp group that had left him emotionally drained? Or maybe he is a man struggling since cutting ties with Swift?

These are the questions we are now all forced to ponder.

Of course, fans immediately were in a frenzy over the unflattering images.

Someone commented: “Joe looks awful. I feel bad right now.”

Another added: “People are saying that Joe Alwyn looks bad in those photos when he literally just looks like a guy.”

“He looks rough,” another commented.

“The dishevelled hair, the bags under his eyes, the cosy sweaters … Joe Alwyn …. Call me,” one fan wrote.

Alwyn looking bad shouldn’t mean much, especially because on a good day, that man can leave most of us normal people in the dust. But anyone who has ever been through a break-up knows it means everything.

When you emerge from the emotional bonfire that is a long-term relationship ending, you want to be hot. So hot, your ex misses you and thinks you are doing really well.

Like you’ve become the kind of person that makes the bed before your leave the house and knows about bands before they become cool.

It’s silly and superficial, but it is how the world works.

Alwyn and Swift are famous, which means the first photos of them snapped post-break-up is their version of running into each other at a party.

It’s how both of them see how the other one is doing, and Swift is winning.

Swift’s looking like someone thriving post break-up, and Alwyn is looking how most of us feel post a big break-up — a hot mess.
