Gwyneth Paltrow holds hands with ex-husband Chris Martin’s girlfriend Dakota Johnson
The Hollywood star has shared a sweet photo with her rocker ex’s partner, days after spending Thanksgiving together.
Gwyneth Paltrow is proving that she and Dakota Johnson truly are good pals.
During a Q&A on Instagram Wednesday, the Goop founder was asked to post a photo with the 50 Shades of Grey actress, who has been dating Paltrow’s ex Chris Martin since 2017.
The question prompted Paltrow, 51, to post a photo of her and Johnson, 34, holding hands while out on a brisk walk together, reports Page Six.
The actresses — who were both bundled up in a warm jacket, jeans and a hat — stood side-by-side as they flashed the camera a smile while standing in the middle of the road.
While it’s unclear when the picture was taken, Johnson notably joined Paltrow and Martin as well as their kids — Apple, 19, and Moses, 17 — for Thanksgiving this year.
The group was photographed arriving to the airport on Sunday after spending some time together in the Hamptons.
Although Johnson and the Coldplay frontman, 46, have kept their romance out of the spotlight, Paltrow occasionally shares glimpses into her respective relationships with each of them.
In October, a fan asked the Iron Man star to describe her relationship with Johnson, whom she had nothing but good things to say about.
“We’re actually very good friends,” the mother of two said. “I love her so much. She’s an adorable, wonderful person.”
However, the comments came as no surprise to many given the pair’s seemingly close-knit dynamic.
The two Hollywood stars were spotted hanging out at a Gucci fashion show in 2021 and on a family ski trip to Aspen, Colorado, the year prior.
Paltrow even posted a sweet birthday tribute to the Persuasion star in 2019, calling her an “absolute gem.”
Paltrow and Martin married in 2003 but famously announced they were “conscious uncoupling” 11 years later. They finalised their divorce in 2016.
Shortly after their split, Paltrow started dating Brad Falchuk, whom she wed in 2018.
Despite their new relationships, the exes have continued to amicably co-parent their kids.
In fact, the twosome came together at their daughter’s high school graduation ceremony last year, where they snapped a smiling selfie to commemorate the moment.
However, Paltrow admitted in 2020 that co-parenting wasn’t always easy regardless of her good relationship with Martin, who she says is more like a “brother” to her now.
“It’s like you’re ending a marriage but you’re still in a family. That’s how it will be forever,” Paltrow said on The Drew Barrymore Show.
“We also have good days and bad days, but I think it’s driving towards the same purpose of unity and love and what’s best for [our kids],” she continued. “We have this idea that just because we break up we can’t love the things about the person anymore that we loved and that’s not true.”
Despite their differences, the exes both agreed that they didn’t want their divorce to “traumatise” their kids.
“Chris and I committed to putting them first and that’s harder than it looks because some days you really don’t want to be with the person that you are getting divorced from,” she explained. “But if you’re committed to having family dinner, then you do it.”
She added, “And you take a deep breath and you look the person in the eye and you remember your pact and you smile and you hug … and recommit to this new relationship that you are trying to foster.”
