Friends star Matt LeBlanc seen for the first time since Matthew Perry’s death
The late actor’s co-star and longtime friend has been spotted out for the first time since his funeral last month.
Matt LeBlanc has been seen for the first time since the tragic death of his Friends co-star Matthew Perry.
The 56-year-old actor headed out to dinner with a group of male friends to Nobu in Malibu on Tuesday evening.
The low-key outing came nearly two months after Perry was found dead in an apparent drowning at his Pacific Palisades home the age of 54.
In late October, an assistant discovered him underwater in his hot tub and called emergency services, but the actor was unresponsive before they arrived.
His cause of death has since been “deferred” with authorities confirming the investigation is “ongoing”.
Days later, LeBlanc – who played Joey Tribbiani alongside Perry’s loveable and sarcastic Chandler Bing on the hit series – took to Instagram with a personal tribute to his longtime friend and colleague.
“Matthew. It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly among the favourite times of my life.
“It was an honour to share the stage with you and to call you my friend. I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never.
“Spread your wings and fly brother you’re finally free. Much love.”
LeBlanc then finished up: “ … And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me.”
Back in 2015, LeBlanc had gushed over his friendship with Perry, describing the actor as like being his “little brother” in an interview with People.
“I love that guy!” he said of his co-star the following year.
“I can not see him for five years and then get in a room together and still have that shorthand with each other. It’s amazing, really. Ten years in a building with no windows and the doors locked, we got to know each other pretty well.”
Perry was laid to rest in an intimate one-hour service at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles on November 3, with the five remaining Friends stars – LeBlanc, along with Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox and David Schwimmer – all in attendance.
