Former Bachelor star Tiffany Scanlon complains after drop in Insta likes

Former reality TV star turned influencer Tiffany Scanlon says she’s “disheartened” over the dwindling likes on her Instagram posts.

A former reality TV star has “had a whinge” on social media after noticing a drop in the number of “likes” on her photos.

Tiffany Scanlon was one of the many women vying for Richie Strahan’s heart in the 2016 season of The Bachelor but made headlines when she left the show thanks to her short-lived relationship with fellow contestant Megan Marx, which ended in early 2017.

It provided her with the ability to take the well-trodden path from reality TV star to social media influencer, but recently her online popularity appears to be waning — and she’s not happy about it.

In a new Instagram post, Scanlon has had “a whinge” to her 102,000 followers after noticing she wasn’t getting enough “likes” on the photos she shares of herself.

“I’ve felt super disheartened by Instagram lately — a combination of an unexplained decline in engagement and the research I’ve been doing about the platform,” she wrote.

“I’m having a whinge but when I see posts that are of a girl in a bikini with a caption of the sun emoji getting thousands of likes, and I try so hard to post meaningful content, I really can’t help but feeling it is pointless even bothering.”

However, Scanlon also acknowledged how “fickle” her complaint was.

“I’m also frustrated with myself for letting something so fickle as ‘likes’ even get to me,” she wrote.

“All of the research I’ve done points to how damaging it is to see ‘perfect people’ living the ‘perfect life’ and yet that is exactly the kind of content that we encourage each other to produce because that is what receives most likes. I don’t know how to change this. I don’t have an answer … It’s just disheartening.”

It’s not the first time the former Bachelor star has aired her gripes with the “influencer” industry.

Last August, she hit out at other influencers for their “self-entitled” attitudes.

“I would like to say I had no idea how self-entitled influencers could be until I started working with clients in influencer marketing,” Scanlon said in an Instagram Story.

“I am just gobsmacked. I am talking about accounts that are smaller than mine and that are demanding more money than I have ever charged for a post. They aren’t willing to give anything back.

“The number of followers you have doesn’t even matter — it comes down to the engagement and your credibility and the actual influence you have. But people think they can buy hundreds of followers and charge whatever they want and then the companies that are paying them get no return out if it.”
