Influencer and model Emily Ratajkowski is currently getting shamed for daring to be a single woman.

Since her separation from Sebastian Bear-McClard, she’s been spotted with many famous men, from the rumoured Brad Pitt to the clichéd Pete Davidson to the unexpected Erin Andre.

Now she’s been seen sharing a sloppy kiss with the world’s favourite man, Harry Styles.

Everyone’s very excited about it.

Still, something depressing is bubbling beneath the surface of the excitement of seeing two very famous people hook up.

People aren’t applauding Emily for living her best Carrie Bradshaw life; instead, she’s being shamed.

There are far too many comments I can’t repeat, but to give you the vibe, someone recently commented underneath a story of her kissing Harry Styles.

“She gets around.”

There it is, that tag that if a woman is having fun or dating or playing the field, she gets slut-shamed.

It also doesn’t just end at slut-shaming. There’s this general view that because she’s out there having a good time, she’s somehow seen as lesser.

Honestly, “She gets around” should be a compliment.

Here’s a woman putting herself out there, having fun and meeting new people. Isn’t that a good thing?

No one is pointing out that Harry Styles cycles through women rapidly.

He has been linked to everyone from Kendall Jenner to Olivia Wilde, and yet no one is calling him a “slut” or wondering if anyone will ever want to settle down with him. But Em-Rata’s pursuit of dating/sex/love somehow puts a question mark next to her name.

So why is Em-Rata the only one to be slut shamed?

Well, because she’s a bold woman.

You see, Em-Rata’s always been a bit controversial. She has made a career out of being unashamedly very hot.

She posts sexy selfies, refuses to act bashful, and it makes people uncomfortable.

Now, she upped the ante and become a woman with a child, and she’s not being shy about the fact that she’s putting herself out there and meeting men.

I know, we want women that have children to stay inside 24/7 singing nursery rhymes, but Em-Rata is out posting bikini pics and kissing the most eligible bachelors ever.

Eric Andre posted a nude selfie with the model and then they called it quits soon after. The woman is living!

We hadn’t seen a woman be so brazenly looking for love since Taylor Swift’s dating era when she was linked with everyone from Harry Styles to John Mayer.

In a recent episode of her podcast, Emily revealed how she feels about dating as a famous woman.

Firstly, she explained that she finds meeting men and being single fun.

“Dating is really interesting and fun because I’m doing it for the experience, not because I’m looking for the next boyfriend. I’m just, like, enjoying myself,” Emily revealed.

However, she quickly clarified that it isn’t always straightforward because of the public scrutiny.

“I’ve gone on dates where there have been no pictures … and then there’s been times when, literally the first time I’ve met someone, we spend two hours together, and there are pictures on the internet.”

She also added that the experience of dating can make her feel “guilty” and “gross” because the men she gets spotted with quickly become internet fodder.

I don’t feel sorry for the men that get tangled up in Em-Rata’s love web, I do feel sorry for Em-Rata though.

She’s a young single woman dating and yet every time she’s spotted out with a new man she gets shamed.

The way we condemn single women for having harmless fun is exhausting, depressing and so severely out-dated.

If two people are caught making out and only one of them is slut-shamed for it. Well, what does that tell you?

It screams that women still aren’t treated equally and what makes a woman a ‘slut’ just makes a guy even cooler.

Em-Rata is out there living her best dating life and sadly society will punish her for it.
