A new celebrity age-gap relationship has emerged

A well-known radio personality who has just been through a divorce has caused divide by dating someone younger than him.

After splitting from his wife of over 14 years in December 2023, radio star Tim Blackwell made his red carpet debut with his girlfriend, Lizzie Baxter.

Blackwell, 43, who got a fringe after his break-up, which is very relatable behaviour, brought Baxter, 28, as his date to the 2024 ARIAS Awards.

Blackwell is a radio veteran who currently co-hosts the successful NOVA drive show, Rickie Lee, Tim, and Joel. Meanwhile, Baxter produces Nova’s long-running breakfast show Fitzy and Wippa.

Blackwell, who shares two children with his ex-wife Monique Blackwell, opted to wear a red unbuttoned shirt, a silver necklace and a velvet suit.

It was sort of Pirates of The Caribbean chic meets Noel Gallagher from Oasis cosplay.

Meanwhile, Baxter went for a plaid mini dress with thigh-high stockings and strappy black heels.

Baxter’s outfit was very Gen Z chic, and on trend; Taylor Swift has been embracing plaid recently.

The 43-year-old was also hosting the ARIA Awards, and when he announced it on Instagram, Baxter, who has her profile private, left a flirty message underneath the post.

“Do you need a date by any chance? You’re hot,” she wrote.

“I’ll be working. Wouldn’t that be unprofessional? I’ll think about it.” He replied.

“Hasn’t stopped you in the past,” she joked.

Their new romance has caused some online divide, mainly because of the age gap of 15 years.

“Midlife crisis right there,” one commented, and similarly, someone else called it a “midlife meltdown”.

“Looks like his daughter,” one remarked, and another replied and said on “first glance” they also thought it was Blackwell’s daughter instead of date.

“She is far too young for him,” another claimed.

“Good luck to them. Especially with the nastiness they’ll have to deal with,” someone else wrote.

Another said you’re not allowed to have an age gap of more than five years; otherwise, society will “shame” you.

Age-gap romances are rife in celebrity land at the moment, to the point that there was a viral tweet going around calling it “age-gap autumn”.

If you’re in Australia, that means it is age-gap summer, and Blackwell is leading the Aussie celebrity charge.
