SONNY Bill Williams has welcomed his first child with wife Alana Raffie, but the All Blacks star was forced to watch the birth under some unusual circumstances.
SONNY Bill Williams has welcomed his first child.
Williams’ wife Alana Raffie gave birth to a baby girl in Auckland, New Zealand late last night.
The All Blacks star, who is currently in Cardiff preparing for a Test against Wales, missed training to watch the birth remotely on the internet.
Once the baby was born the 29-year-old announced his daughter’s arrival on Twitter, describing it as “the proudest moment of my life”.
Williams tweeted a picture of the newborn’s tiny toes, along with the Arabic hashtag #alhumdulliah meaning “all praise and thanks to god”.

The couple have not named their daughter, but both mother and baby are reportedly doing well.
“Sonny wasn’t training simply because he was monitoring the progress of his wife,” assistant coach Ian Foster said in a statement.
“We are delighted that Sonny and his wife Alana have had a baby girl this morning, so he was following that event.”
Williams is the second player to welcome a baby during the tour, with fellow All Black Charlie Faumuina’s wife Rachelle giving birth to their second child, a baby girl last week.
