Pink details the first days of her coronavirus symptoms

Pink detailed the nightmare she and her 3-year-old son experienced after they both contracted the novel coronavirus.

“We’re doing alright. We’re doing OK this week,” she said in a sneak peek of today’s episode of The Ellen Show via video chat. “I don’t even know what day it is but this is a better week than the last previous ones have been for our little household.”

The What About Us singer shared her relief that her son Jameson has now been without a fever for two days.

Pink, 40, said her son was the first one to fall ill nearly a month ago, having a fever on and off, stomach pains, diarrhoea, chest pains, a sore throat, and headaches.

“It was just all over the place,” she said. “Every day was some new symptom and then his fever stayed, it didn’t go, and then it started going up and up and up and at one point he was at 103.”

She tried calling her doctor who informed her that there wasn’t much she could do except stay home.

“It was terrifying,” she said.

The singer herself got sick a few weeks later, saying that at first, she didn’t think much of it because she didn’t have a fever.

But things took a turn for the worse when Pink, who has asthma, woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t breathe, causing her to use a nebuliser, a device similar to an inhaler that turns liquid medicine into a mist to help treat asthma.

“I couldn’t function without (my inhaler) and that’s when I started to get really scared,” she said.

They could only access one test so she tested herself to confirm she was positive for coronavirus.

“This is the scariest thing I’ve ever, ever been through in my whole life,” she said tearing up as she remembered her son vomiting while having chest pain. “There’s nothing you can do. You just ride it out, and we started to get better … slowly, slowly, slowly.”

Pink said her symptoms included nausea, a sore throat, and breathing problems.

“It really is just a roller coaster … there’s no rhyme or reason to this,” she said. “At one point I was crying, praying … I thought they told us our kids were going to be OK.”

She also touched on the controversy of herself being able to get tested while thousands of Americans are struggling to get a test.

“You should be angry that I can get a test and you can’t,” she said. “But being angry at me is not going to help anything … we should work together to try and change that.”

She added, “Tell me anybody with a sick 3-year-old that if they could get their hands on a test that they wouldn’t take it. And if they say that, I’m calling bulls**t.”

Pink has donated US$1 million to coronavirus relief funds.
