Karl Stefanovic opens up about Jasmine Yarbrough’s pregnancy for the first time

For the first time since rumours started swirling last year, Karl Stefanovic has confirmed his wife Jasmine Yarbrough is 20 weeks pregnant.

Karl Stefanovic has finally confirmed his wife Jasmine Yarbrough is expecting a child – revealing to Kyle and Jackie O this morning that she’s 20 weeks pregnant.

Speculation has been rife since early December, when entertainment reporter Peter Ford told Perth radio show 6PR Breakfast with Millsy & Baz about Jasmine’s baby shower.

Telling Instagram photos featuring Jasmine also fuelled rumours, while paparazzi shots of Jasmine in a bikini – and a subsequent Instagram post by Karl – all but confirmed it was true.

This morning, however, was the first time either of them have uttered the words, with the Today show host seemingly excited to reveal the details of his private life.

He told The Kyle and Jackie O Show of his marriage to Yarbrough, 35: “We’re glad that some of the heat has died out of the whole thing and we sort of lead a more normal life than we did before.

“(Jasmine) is glowing, she’s happy and we’re all very happy,” he added.

Shortly after photos of Jasmine in a black bathing suit in Byron Bay emerged in December, Karl made a cheeky announcement on Instagram.

Posting a paparazzi photo of himself emerging from the ocean during a recent beach trip, the returning Today host made a self-deprecating remark referencing his December food baby.

“After a great deal of speculation … the rumours are true,” he wrote.

Joking about the photo on Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa this morning, Karl said: “I’ve put on a bit of pudge and I’m liking it.”

“I am looking bloody good hey!” he added.

And over on Kyle and Jackie O, when asked if the couple knew the sex of their unborn child, Karl said they had opted not to find out until the birth.

“We have very few surprises in this life, and there’s been so much of us that is public. (During) the whole thing, we’ve been trying to hold on to ours,” he said.

Karl then joked: “I think pregnancy is one of those things that is really boring!”

Karl and Jasmine began dating in late 2016 after he separated from journalist Cassandra Thorburn.

They tied the knot in Mexico in 2018 – the lavish wedding thought by many to be the “nail in the coffin” for Karl, who was sacked from the Today show on his honeymoon.

The former couple, who had been married 21 years, share three children: Jackson, 20, River, 12, and Ava, 14.

In an interview with 3AW on Tuesday, Karl said he couldn’t understand why there had been so much public interest surrounding his split.

“I thought, ‘Hang on, a lot of people go through (divorce), why is mine such a big deal?’” he said.

“I still don’t know why it was, but I got divorced, I did find love again, and I’m sorry if people are offended by that, but it’s made me really happy.”
