Beyonce pens poem to daughter Blue Ivy — and it’s not very good
BEYONCE has penned a heartfelt poem dedicated to her daughter, Blue Ivy. We’re used to everything Bey does being flawless — but this, not so much.
WE all think Beyoncé is perfect, flawless and a goddess walking among us puny mortals. No one said she was a writer.
Bey wrote a poem that will be featured in the CR Fashion Book, alongside a spread of photos of her.
The poem is called Bey the Light, and Bey apparently provided the words for the poem, which was then remixed (whatever the hell that means) by Forrest Gander, a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in poetry in 2012.
With such a pedigree, you would think this poem, which is ostensibly about Blue Ivy, would be a modern masterpiece, right? Well, sorry to upset you, Beyoncé, but the masses aren’t feeling it.
Here are a couple verses, so you can see what we’re talking about:
It’s my daughter, she’s my biggest muse.
There’s someone, we all find out soon,
more important than ourselves to lose.
I feel a deep bond with young children —
all those photos in my dressing room —
especially those who’ve been stricken,
Children I’ve met across the years —
they uplift me like pieces of moon,
and guide me, whispering in my ear
I’m turned to spirits, the emotions of others.
I learned at a very young age,
when I need to tap some extra strength,
to put my persona, Sasha, on stage.
The jury’s still out on this, as art is always open to interpretation.
If you want to check out the whole thing, you can do so here. Personally, we think it’s best if Beyoncé sticks to her day job.
