Lisa Marie Presley’s son Benjamin Keough died in a suspected suicide at the family compound in an exclusive gated community outside LA.

Grandson of Elvis Presley has died at age 27

Lisa Marie Presley’s only son Benjamin Keough died inside her family’s mansion, in an exclusive gated community in Calabasas, California.

Keough’s body was found at around 6.30am Sunday local time, his death a suspected suicide.

He was 27.

“Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their death investigation of a male white adult in his 20s,” local police said in a statement obtained by The Sun.

The mansion is in the exclusive gated community of Calabasas Park Estates, 40 minutes northeast of central Los Angeles. Calabasas and nearby Hidden Hills are private enclaves for the rich and famous. The Kardashians, Drake, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith are among the celebrity residents.

Presley’s $US1.8 million ($A2.6 million) Calabasas mansion is a considerable downsize from her previous estate in Hidden Hills: a sprawling, eight-bedroom home bought by Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in 2014.

The property downsize came as Lisa Marie claimed her former business manager squandered her entire share of late father Elvis’ $US100 million ($A135 million) fortune, whittling it down to just $US14,000 ($A19,000). Last year Benjamin’s grandmother Priscilla Presley was forced to sell her own Los Angeles mansion to help out her daughter with her mounting debts.

Now, Lisa Marie’s family home is the site of this most recent family tragedy.

In a statement provided to EW, a representative for Lisa Marie said she was “beyond devastated” over her only son’s death.

“She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter Riley,” the statement read. “She adored that boy. He was the love of her life.”
