Actor Armie Hammer swiftly deleted a bizarre video that showed his young son sucking on his toes after it drew an immediate backlash.

The Call Me By Your Name and Hotel Mumbai star, 32, stunned fans with the short video posted to his Instagram Stories, showing his two-year-old son Ford sucking his toes as he lay back giggling.

“This happened for a solid 7 minutes,” Hammer captioned the video, adding the hashtag “#footfetishonfleek”. A voice — presumably that of his wife, Elizabeth Chambers — can be heard in the background saying “this is not normal”.

The reaction was swift — and probably not what Hammer had envisaged:

The actor soon removed the video but not before it had been picked up by various media outlets — including gossip merchant Perez Hilton, who reposted it in full to his Instagram. That prompted a response from Hammer’s wife and Ford’s mum, Elizabeth Chambers.

“It wasn’t seven minutes … more like five seconds. Our son likes to play with people’s feet and I put the video on our family stream because this phase is an ongoing joke,” she wrote. “Sharing the video on Instagram was def not the best move on A’s part, but I can assure you that our children’s safety and wellbeing is always our first priority.”
