Shane Warne’s son reveals how he found out about his dad’s death

Jackson Warne has sat down for his first interview since his father’s shock death last year, revealing more about the moment he found out his dad had died.

Shane Warne’s son Jackson has opened up about losing his father in his first interview since the cricket legend’s shock death.

Jackson Warne sat down for an emotional interview with Ant Middleton about the impact of the death of his dad.

Warne died in March 2022 from a suspected heart attack. He was 52.

Mr Warne says he doesn’t think he will ever be able to forget the moment he heard of his dad’s death.

Jackson said he had been left with a "void" after his father's passing.

“All you get is a phone call and then when you hang up the phone call...your entire life, everything you ever knew sort of just gets like ‘whoosh’, just completely flipped upside down,” he said on the Head Game podcast.

“Your mind does one million thoughts an hour and you’re like ‘What?’

“You’re just in complete shock then after you have all these thoughts and you let the tears out that you just sort of sit in silence.”

He said he could “vividly remember” the heart sinking moment he received the phone call telling him his father had died.

“Seeing my phone and who was calling and [I thought] ‘Hang on, he’s with my dad, very weird that he would be calling me and not my dad’,” he said.

Mr Warne said he was “convinced” he would speak to his father once again.

“It might sound crazy, but I’m convinced that I’m confident I’ll at least have one conversation with my dad again, I don’t know whether it be in a dream or somewhere,” he said.

“There’s no way I won’t be able to talk to him about, you know, poker or St Kilda Football Club or any of our hobbies that we used to do all the time. There’s no way I won’t be able to talk to him about it.”

He said that he “knows” his father wouldn’t want him to be sad in the wake of his death.

“The last phone call I had with him was him saying ‘I’m so proud of you, I love you so much’,” he said.
