She was born on April 4, 1928, in Manhattan, but didn’t begin her career until the 1977 film Looking Up.

From there, Harris moved into TV by way of commercials and guest appearances on shows including Mad About You and Married … With Children.

But when she landed the role on Seinfeld, bearing the same first name, her career took off. She appeared in 27 episodes of the sitcom between 1992 and 1998.

In addition to her famous Seinfeld turn, Harris appeared in dozens of films and television series.

Harris was part of the 1992 film This Is My Life, which was Nora Ephron’s directorial debut.

Disney fans may recognise her for her appearances in multiple films and series, including The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Phil of the Future, The Proud Family, Hercules, and Aladdin.

Her high-pitched voice and comedic timing captured the hearts of fans and admirers, who have taken to Twitter to share their favourite clips featuring characters Harris portrayed over the years.

“RIP Estelle Harris. She was so funny in every role she had. I was introduced to her as Muriel on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and Mrs. Potato Head in Toy Story. She was also great in Seinfeld as well. You will be missed very much,” one fan wrote.

“Hard to imagine a more essential TV duo than Estelle Harris and Jerry Stiller as Estelle and Frank Costanza. They were legit comic geniuses with incredible chemistry. What a legacy,” another fan said.

“Literally in tears hearing about Estelle Harris passing away. Even if you are too young to know her for Seinfeld, you knew who she was. Whether it was Mrs. Potato Head to Don Rickles’ Mr. Potato Head or even Muriel in Suite Life of Zack and Cody, she was hilarious and brilliant,” said another.

“Oh no this is so sad she was great in all the roles she was in. From of course Seinfeld, to Toy Story to Suite Life Of Zack & Cody. To countless other things. Estelle Harris you will be missed R. I. P,” another fan tweeted.

“First Don Rickles, now Estelle Harris … Now, both Potato Heads can be eternally happy together,” wrote another.

Harris leaves behind her husband, Sy, and three children.
