Liam Payne’s net worth: Star’s heartbreaking vow about his fortune

Singer Liam Payne amassed a huge fortune — and he revealed who he wanted to inherit it during an emotional interview.

Liam Payne's cause of death revealed

Liam Payne amassed a net worth of about $105 million ($US70 million) before his death. His wealth was largely due to his time with One Direction and his solo singing career.

The 31-year-old also owned “several companies”.

He leaves behind a son, 7-year-old Bear Payne, who he pledged to give “everything” to during an emotional interview.

Payne died about 5pm October 16 (GMT-3) after falling from the balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Alberto Crescenti, who is head of the state emergency medical system, spoke on Argentina’s Todo Noticias TV channel and said the star fell about 13 or 14 metres and suffered “severe injuries which were incompatible with life”.

Police had earlier been called to the hotel after reports he had been acting aggressively and was under the influence of “drugs or alcohol”.

The star revealed that he intended his son Bear Payne to inherit his fortune, in an emotional interview following his birth in 2017.

Speaking on the Impaulsive with Logan Paul podcast, Payne revealed how he had planned for the future.

“My life now is his, my money is his,” he said.

Payne elaborated: “This is a conversation I had myself, what do I give him?

“I actually have got several companies that are up and running that I know he can run if he wants to.

“And if (he) wants to sell them he can sell them, if he wants to run them he can run them. That’s his choice.

“I mean he’s five, right, so there’s a long way to go. I like to think ahead, and he’s a lovely, lovely boy. We’ve been blessed.”

Payne became a parent at 23 along with his then-partner, X Factor judge Cheryl Cole, who is 10 years older than the star.

He said he “winked” at Cole during an audition as he sang Fly Me To The Moon when he was 14. They became a couple in 2017.

The English singer was born three weeks premature on 29 August 1993 in the West Midlands to a nurse and fitter.

He first came to fame in 2008 during an audition for the fifth season of X Factor, performing in front of Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue. He made it past the first round but was later booted from the show and told to “come back in two years”.

He returned in 2010 — singing a Michael Bublé song — and met his One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik and the group later signed to Cowell’s Syco Entertainment.

He has also worked as a producer.

The star had featured in a number of advertising campaigns and also launched a NFT in 2021.
